Don’t Forget These Items When You Move Into Your First Apartment – From Bare Walls to Cosy Calls!

by Catalina Forbes

Moving into your very own apartment? First, a big congratulations are in order! To help you settle in without saying “Oops, forgot that!” every few minutes, here’s a handy checklist of things you really don’t want to leave off your shopping list.

For the Bedroom
The bedroom, including the elegant living spaces on offer at apartments by Prime Residencies, is your sanctuary and chill zone. Beyond your bed and mattress, have blackout curtains (hello, weekend lie-ins!), a nightstand lamp for late-night reading, a full-length mirror, and some soft bedding to sink into. Add a rug, dresser, and side table to make it feel complete… and yes, at least two sets of sheets!

For the Kitchen
Whether you are whipping up gourmet dinners or surviving on cereal and air fryer meals after you moved into one of the stylish apartments in Sri Lanka, your kitchen needs its toolkit. Cutlery, plates, bowls, and pots are just the start. Apart from the fridge, don’t forget a blender, pressure cooker and microwave. Keep it functional with measuring cups, dish soap, a reusable brush and plenty of paper towels, because spills do happen!

For the Living Room
Think of this as your comfort central. Your sofa and TV might take the spotlight, but little things bring it all together: throw pillows, a soft blanket, a coffee table (don’t skip coasters unless you enjoy mystery rings!), and maybe a sitting chair or two or even some bean bags. Meanwhile, framed pictures of loved ones (including pets) and a few plants add personality, warmth, and some Instagrammable vibes to boot.

For the Bathroom
It’s amazing how many bits and bobs you will need for a room that’s rarely Instagrammed. A shower curtain and rings, as well as a bathmat, towels, and a soap dispenser, are essential. Add a toothbrush holder, a makeup organiser, a toilet brush, a plunger, plenty of toilet paper and a small bin. A shower caddy will keep everything tidy… besides, it will stop you playing ‘balance the bottle’ every morning!
